Death of elderly nursing home resident who received vaccine being investigated

A person in their nineties has died shortly after being vaccinated for coronavirus, NOS reported on Monday. The cause of death is being investigated by Lareb, a Laren-based facility that specialises in medical side-effects, in line with European Medicines Agency guidelines.

The patient had underlying health issues and lived in a nursing home. Their gender and location have not been made public. Agnes Kant, director of the Lareb centre, said: ‘It’s likely that this was not related to the vaccine but to the person’s health issues, but obviously we will investigate this report.

‘Now we are vaccinating vulnerable elderly people in the Netherlands it is very likely that some people will die after being vaccinated, because roughly 800 vulnerable people living in nursing homes die every week. So we can expect some of those people to have been vaccinated recently.’
